Positions

President
Description
  • Serve as official representative of UBWA to the Fisher College of Business and the Ohio State University. This includes attending training, official college events, award ceremonies, leadership retreats and diversity events
  • Be a liaison between stakeholders at the university including COP, ULEO, ODISS, and USG, and ensure we are meeting the needs of these departments
  • Attend monthly conference calls for BIG10 WIB Conference and coordinate UBWA attendance
  • Collaborate with other student organizations on mission relevant events and programming
  • Oversee general programming of UBWA and assist other executive board members with projects falling under their jurisdiction
  • Plan, innovate, and coordinate strategies to continue and improve the success of UBWA
  • Meet with other board members one-on-one to help strategize and goal-set
  • Seek out opportunities for members including internships, leadership programs, community events and events other organizations are hosting
  • Organize and plan elections for the following year
  • Attend Presidents training

  • Member of the executive board for one full year
  •  Admitted to Fisher College of Business
     
Senior Vice President
Description
  • Serve as official representative of UBWA to the Fisher College of Business and the Ohio State University. This includes attending training, official college events, UBC Council of Presidents meetings, as well as leadership retreats and diversity events
  • Lead general body meetings and coordinate catering 
  • Design and order exec board name tags, membership t-shirts, stickers, and any other apparel and promotional items deemed necessary
  • Assist the President in planning and programming for the organization
  • Support other exec board members in implementing programs or events
  • Manage and coordinate with non-corporate contacts (non-profits, entrepreneurs, business-owners, students, staff, UBWA internal etc.)
Requirements to Run:
  • Member of the executive board for one full year
     
Treasurer
Description
  • Manage UBWA bank account, checkbook, Venmo, and Paypal
  • Create an annual budget and make recommendations
  • Devise cost saving strategies
  • Collect and deposit membership dues and company sponsorships 
  • Book flights and track funding for exec board’s annual conference 
  • Send out monthly budget updates
  • Manage receipt collection and account updates
  • Manage financial aid applications for funds/grants for general UBWA operations and special events like Women’s Week
  • Perform audits and complete audit forms when necessary
  •  Attend treasurer training
     
VP of Philanthropy 
Description
  • Initially contact philanthropy partners and maintain relationships/set volunteering dates before committee is formed
  • Manage Philanthropy Committee of 4-8 members, depending on number of philanthropy partners chosen, who will be planning volunteering events throughout the school year
    • Philanthropy partners may include but are not limited to: Dress for Success, Girls on the Run, My Very Own Blanket, BuckeyeThon, College Mentors for Kids, Friendship Village Retirement Home
      • Not all of these organizations are contacted each semester
      • In past years each committee member is put in charge of a philanthropy partner/initiative (can run your own way though)
  • Sign up as a Team Captain for UBWA’s BuckeyeThon team, attend weekly meetings held by BuckeyeThon organization, and help team members raise money to attend the dance marathon (held November 2021)
  • Plan, in collaboration with the VP of Special Events, UBWA’s Charity Gala which will entail: (changed to smaller virtual events/multiple weeks of fundraising this year due to COVID, would have been the following)
    • Forming a joint Gala committee containing members from the Philanthropy Committee and members that the VP of Special Events has selected
    • Researching and selecting a charity that will be the gala’s beneficiary charity
    • Coordinate space rentals, catering, decor, etc. 
    • Creating promotional flyers and other marketing material to spread the word about the event (can collaborate with VP of Marketing)
    • Working with the Treasurer to apply for funding for the gala
  • Reinvest Kiva funds into new loan requests by women throughout the year as funds become available (online)


VP of Programming
Description
  • Being able to stay organized and plan ahead!
  • Plan at least 1 general member and 1 executive board social event per semester
  • Plan the end of the year party/social for the members
  • Plan informal (no RSVP) socials throughout the semester
  • Plan the annual fall spotlight farm social
  • Manage and coordinate the friend date program for the members (either weekly or monthly)
  • Coordinate all logistics and transportation for social events
  • Record feedback information following the event for future reference
  • If virtual, coordinating events through zoom and making sure people stay involved
  • Collaborate with other E-Board to help with general event planning when needed
    • Contacting Treasurer for finances, Member Relations for calendar/weekly emails/attendance, and Marketing for social media 
 
VP of Member Relations
Description
  • Create and send weekly email updates to members
  • Manage MailChimp database
  • Manage the UBWA execs Gmail account, including the member google calendar
  • Track opportunities and communications sent by corporate sponsors and other organizations
  • Create and manage membership application and responses
    • Track and send new member initiation messages
  • Track and manage member/executive member attendance
  • Own and execute the membership points system
    • Track and send active and outstanding member notifications
  • Plan and organize UBWA fall and spring involvement fairs/Fisher Frenzy recruitment
  • Devise and implement member recruitment and retention strategies
    • Execute the Exec Connect program
  • Organize Member of the Month recognition and certificates
  • Plan and facilitate fall and spring semester Outstanding Members socials (or gift card awards, if virtual)
  • Maintain our FisherU account and keep it updated with every event that is open to the entire university (not events only for paid UBWA members)
  • Add our meetings to “This Week in Schoenbaum” email every week

VP of Professional Development
Description
  • Manage and execute two formal professional development opportunities
    • Facilitate professional development workshops i.e. Business Bootcamp (generally 6 events over 6 weeks). 
    • Arrange a case competition.
    • Plan and execute an etiquette luncheon.
  • Plan informal professional development events
    • Informal networking
  • Help develop relationships with local businesses and women’s groups
  • Serve as a point of contact for all members in terms of professional development needs
  •  Help develop new relationships with companies through networking
  • Coordinate all logistics for executive board trips/conferences
  • Help coordinate events with FGWIB and other organizations on campus

  • Execute the UBWA Resume Book
 
VP of Marketing
Description
  • Maintain the Website, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts with information about upcoming meetings, events, socials, etc.
  • Assist with special events and committees throughout the year with marketing and social media as needed
  • Create promotional materials such as flyers, handouts, graphics, videos, etc. for the organization
  • Take and add pictures from various events and weekly meetings to our social media accounts and our website
  • Brainstorm creative social media initiatives


 VP of Corporate Relations
Description
  • Maintain an updated list of UBWA speakers and sponsors and track communication 
  • Organize corporate attendees for weekly meetings, information sessions, site visits, and other supplemental events 
  • Own, assess, and improve the corporate sponsorship program and packet
  • Attend networking events and take initiative to build UBWA partnerships 
  • Identify speakers/panelist/keynotes for all special events
  • Collaborate on relevant committees 
  • Follow-up with all speakers and sponsors in the spring semester to thank them for collaborating with UBWA



VP of Special Events
Description
  • Plan and organize all of UBWA’s signature events throughout the year, which include but are not limited to, the UBWA Career Fair, Women’s Week, Ohio/Big10 conference
  • Manage a committee of 5-6 members that will assist in planning each event
    • Host weekly/bi-weekly meetings leading up to event
  • Planning each event entails:
    • Creatively brainstorming unique events that speak well upon UBWA to external stakeholders while being timely and organized
    • Working professionally with any stakeholders you decide to involve 
    • Partnering with marketing to create promotional materials such as flyers, handouts, graphics, social media posts etc. for each event
    • Working with UBWA Treasurer to apply for funding for each event 
    • Work with the VP of Marketing to spread the word about the events through personal emails to other student organizations, hanging up flyers around campus, getting events in campus-wide newsletters (OnCampus Weekly, Honors & Scholars Weekly, Student Organization Insider, TWIS, etc.)
    • Finding and reserving event spaces
  • Manage a budget set by the VP of Special Events and the Treasurer


VP of Alumni Engagement
Description
  • Maintain and update the database of alumni network information
  • Gather alumni information via exit-survey
  • Send out three newsletters to our alumni per year (Autumn, Spring, Summer)
  • Continuously update and connect with alumni and supporters via LinkedIn, Facebook, and email communications
  • Maintain current-member UBWA LinkedIn
  • Set up alumni panels and blog post engagements
  • Create an online mentor program or similar initiative to connect our current and past UBWA members
  • Plan at least one alumni-related event per semester
  • Lead the alumni council in fostering engagement among alumni network
